A suite life…

I recently returned from a twelve night cruise aboard the beautiful Celebrity Solstice, where I was sailing around the Mediterranean visiting fascinating ports including Naples, Rome, Kotor and Venice.

This was my third cruise with Celebrity, and after my first voyage with them aboard the Eclipse’s maiden in April 2010, I was upgraded to a Sky Suite, which of course I loved and since then, I have not travelled in another cabin category since.

A Sky Suite aboard Celebrity’s Solstice Class vessels are approximately 300 square feet in size and then there is an oversized veranda which range from 90-100 square feet, depending upon the cabin location. By staying in a Sky Suite, you’ll most likely find your cabin is located on the Deck 12 (Resort), which is the same as the outdoor pool, solarium and the AquaSpa by Elemis. Meaning you don’t have far to walk. However, there are two to three Sky Suite’s on decks six to eleven, located at the very aft of the ship allowing you to have a view of the ships wake as you sail to a new destination.

Staying in a Sky Suite offers added ameneties and services to guests, including European Style Butler Service. I have outlined just a few of the features of a Sky Suite and with a Butler too:

  • Floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors
  • Oversized Veranda
  • Two beds convertible to queen-size, bathroom with shower/tub combination and washbasin
  • Modular closets and under-bed storage
  • Vanity
  • 40” LCD flat panel television
  • Wireless internet access (extra fee)
  • Living room with sofa queen sleeper and vanity
  • Trundle bed (in some cabins)
  • Mini refrigerator
  • Veranda with lounge seating
  • European style butler service
  • 2-3 complimentary Specialty Restaurant reservations per cruise
  • Priority check-in and luggage delivery
  • Priority disembarkation
  • Welcome Bottle of champagne
  • Dining room seating preference
  • Personalized stationery
  • Celebrity tote bag
  • 100% cotton oversized bath towels
  • Frette bathrobes
  • Fresh cut flowers
  • Opportunity to book in-suite massage

The European-Style Butler Service includes:

  • Assistance with unpacking/packing
  • Daily newspaper delivery
  • Expanded room service menu
  • In-suite Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner service
  • In-suite afternoon Tea service
  • Evening Hors D’oeuvres daily
  • Complimentary espresso & cappuccino
  • Shoeshine service

Has that tempted you? Well here are a few photos taken during my cruise. (I apologise for the lighting and the clothes around the place…) Note: I had an S1 Sky suite, which features a port-hole window in addition to a balcony, this is a corner room, therefore the layout differs.
